Music Theory is a vast, deep, and exciting field of music – the one that empowers interested individual with an ability of enjoying the depth of music creativity through a steady and incremental acquisition of its language, terminology, and arrays of needed analytical tools.

The course offered is aimed at amalgamating a person’s mental and intuitive perception of music’s surface into an inseparable whole that would be further developed toward students’ genuine and deep understanding of music creation’s governing principles.

We will discover the correlation between human thought (embodied in the music language) and its natural emotional expression, and also – a unity of unspeakable beauty of Music that rests on its unique structural foundation. In Music, beauty seems to be found everywhere, and so does its underlying structure.

Piano lessons are subdivided into several sub-disciplines – music and rhythmical reading, piano technical exercises, practicing sessions in-between the lessons, music theory related to playing the instrument and beyond, music dictations, and aural skills.

The course is individually offered according to every student’s individual musicality and aspirations. We will start from very beginning of playing the instrument if needed, and – will proceed, incrementally, along the course of studies and practicing routines that will, eventually, enable people to play piano with understanding, sufficiency, necessary technical skills, and confidence.

People’s enjoyment and ability to actively participate in musical arts will be further enriched with benefits of having their personal life filled with purpose and full - range emotional and mental expressiveness. Playing piano helps us with sharpening our cognitive skills, mental awareness and self-discipline, as well. It develops and sharpens our attention to details of the subject of study, whatever this subject may be. The consequences are far-reaching ones, as our abilities of focusing on the immediate tasks will be implemented into our daily and professional life.

Music transforms us to the deepest level, and it changes, eventually, our views on ourselves and on the world within and around us. Playing piano will also help us deal with inevitable challenges and difficulties that will arise during the process of studies, just like it appears in our experience; another words – playing an instrument will introduce us to the very tangibility of tools and means necessary for achieving what we aspire for.

These disciplines aim at fostering one’s understanding of the existing music’s language in terms of its universality and ability to tangibly trace and explain in detail the main underlying principles of existing music in terms of its linguistics, structure, form, and content.

In our sessions, we will begin with learning and discussing the fundamental layers of modern music language which, in turn, will allow us to begin careful observation of various styles and historical periods that the music we love so much was created within. There will be opportunities for us to write exercises on various topics that will give us fairly clear ideas of how the music styles retain their individuality and how to even compose music in various styles, just to understand these creative phenomena from within.

We will also concentrate on people’s unique interest in studying the music of chosen favorite composers, as we have the privilege of doing it regularly with my existing students.

Needless to say, such a diverse array of intellectual approaches toward interpretation of music will enable one to appreciate musical arts on their deserved level of comprehension and will allow people to interpret music compositions with deep aesthetic satisfaction.

Music Theory and Analysis will gradually transform one’s own understanding of life as we know it. It happened to me to a considerable extent, and I am sure that it will have an unforgettable impact on interested and motivated individuals who have genuine interest in pursuing such an exciting and unique array of studies.
